Judges Criteria ConsiderationsSlopestyle • Overall Impression (OI) system employed • Judging is subjective • Overall routine, how run progresses and flows • 4 Key components taken into account: • Amplitude • Difficulty • Variety • Execution of tricks • Secondary components • Risk taking – attempting new more challenging tricks • Progression – new tricks not seen at the competition level • Deductions

  5. Judge’s Scoring • 1 Head Judge not scoring • Dave Tozer • 3 Scoring Judges • RN - Ned Morgan • Army - Den Ledger • RN - Chris Bladen • Each judge scores each run - 1 – 100 • Riders score is average of 3 judge scores – 1-100 • Each judge scores run against criteria THEN applies DEDUCTIONS

Judge’s Deductions • Slopestyle Deductions • 1-5 Minor mistake as: unstable body during landings, slight handtouch, use of hands for stability, and other instabilities • 6-15 Medium mistakes as: reverts, light touchdowns, heavy handtouchs, body contact with snow • 16-20 Major mistakes as hard touchdowns, falls , complete falls • If a rider stops completely for greater than 10 seconds the run is judged to that point. The rider should leave the course as soon as possible • Deductions are subjective as viewed by the individual judge

Competition Format - Slopestyle • Training • Training – Official and Unofficial • Official • Each service has dedicated training period • Coaches and Team Captains (TCs) are invited to discuss safety issues with TD or Chief of Competition • Judges will be present to calibrate judging • Judges should not be approached to discuss performance • Hill Team on hill for safety • Unofficial • Hill Team representative in comp area – contact details made available to TCs • Judges not required • Session is open to all competitors – no Service priority • Training – Individual Service training session • Teams will draw for session

Competition Format - Slopestyle • Qualification format • Ladies first run • Men first run • Ladies second run • Men second run • Best score of 2 runs counts for qualification • Top 10 Men and top 6 Ladies progress to finals • Jury may exercise discretion to increase / decrease final field size due to conditions or performance

Competition Format - Slopestyle • Finals format • Ladies first run in qualification order rank 1 >rank 6 • Men’s first run in qualification order rank 1 > rank 10 • Ladies second run in Run 1 result reverse order • Best lady scorer of Run 1 last • Men’s second run in Run 1 result reverse order • Best man scorer of Run 1 last

Judge’s Deductions • Big Air Deductions • 1-9 Minor mistake as: unstable body during landings, slight handtouch / hand drag, and other instabilities • 10 - 19 Medium mistakes as: reverts, light touchdowns, heavy handtouchs / 2 hands down • 20 - 29 Major mistakes as: hard touchdowns, falls , body contact with snow • 30 Huge mistakes as: the board is not the first thing to touch the snow • Deductions are subjective as viewed by the individual judge

Competition Format – Big Air • Format for demo event ONLY • Full Competition format tbc once event incorporated into ISSSC • Judge panel will select best 8 men and best 4 ladies from slopestyle competition for BA demo. • Judging panel will only use kicker performance to select riders • Judge panel • 1 Head Judge – non scoring • 3 Judges scoring • Selected riders will be drawn into Head-to-Head format • Rider A and B undertake 2 runs • Rider order determined by draw – first name selected rides first • After first pair of tricks scores given by judge panel • Best scoring rider of run 1 runs second on second pair of jumps • Best score of 2 runs counts and advances to next round
