  1. Trigonometry Fendy Lormine 6-5-13 F Block

  2. A Mimmy’s Pizza B 25 C 7m Mimmy has a slice of Pizza in the shape of a right triangle They tell her that angle C measures 25 degrees, line BC measures 7 meters. She’s asked to use Trigonometry to find AB. Since AB is the opposite and we know the adjacent side, we need to solve for tangent. Tan25degrees = AB : 7m = ~ 3.3m

  3. Identifying 2 C A B Demi is asked to identify the sides of this triangle using SOH CAH TOA. • C is the Hypotenuse because it’s the longest line in the triangle and is opposite to 90 degrees. • B is the opposite because it’s opposite to the angle measure. • A is the adjacent side because it’[s beside the angle measure.

  4. Doria’s travel 20m 60 Y X Doria Is trying to decide between X and Y which line is longer to travel by. Her teacher told her to use trigonometry to find her answer. Solve with Y excluding X. Tan60degrees = Y : 20m = ~ 34.6m Solve with X excluding Y. Cos60degrees = 2om : x = 40m

  5. Pop corn! 3 C 6 Laurie loves popcorn. Nany brought home a triangular popcorn box and ask her to calculate the Sin (C), Cos (C), Tan (C), if she wants to win the box . Show her the way! • Sin (c) = opposite : hypotenuse = 3 : 6 Cos (C) = adjacent : hypotenuse = 18 : 6 Tan ( C ) = opposite : adjacent = 3 : 18

  6. Doly’s Balloon and Lollipop 13 10 T K Doly wants to get his balloon and lollipop. T represents Doly’s lollipop, and K his balloon. How many millimeters does he has to travel to reach each one of them? Solve for T ( lollipop) excluding K (balloon) Tan10 degrees = T:13mm = ~ 2.3 mm Solve for K (balloon) excluding T (lollipop) Cos10 degrees = 13mm : K = ~ 13.2 mm

  7. Help Doodles! • Doodles doesn’t know what SOH CAH TOA stands for, Please help him! S= sine O= opposite H= hypotenuse C= cosine A= adjacent H= hypotenuse T= tangent O= opposite A= adjacent

  8. Tell him for me! Doodles wants to know when to use SOHCAHTOA. What will you tell him? • We use SOH CAH TOA when given an angle and a side measure in a right triangle, and asked to find the measure of the two other sides.
