Transportation Guiding Principles • Bus routes must be compact and logical • Bus routes must be time and distance sensitive • Maximum ride time of 45 min. and average ride time of 30 min. • Bus routes should be designed to accommodate growth • Bus routes should be developed with student safety as a priority • Bus routes should provide fair and reasonable service to all patrons • Bus routes must be established in accordance with BOE policy

  3. Policy EEAB Bus routes, schedules and stops will be developed under the direction of the superintendent following procedures set by the State Board of Education. The purpose of bus scheduling and routing will be to achieve maximum service with a minimum fleet of buses and to render reasonable and equal service to all eligible students. School bus routes will be approved by the Board no later than October for initial approval, and no later than June, for the final modifications made during the school year. Bus routes will follow the most direct roads practicable for bus travel, to serve those students entitled to transportation service. Where an alternate route may be selected without sacrifice of efficiency or economy, preference will be given to that route serving the largest number of students more directly.

  4. Administrative Procedure for Transporting Childcare Facilities: • Bus will be provided for licensed childcare centers (as defined by the Dept. of Health and Human Services) within attendance center boundary. • Bus will be provided for licensed childcare centers to schools outside of attendance center boundary if the center is within 1.5 miles from an existing route for all K-4 bus routes. • Regular Education transportation service will only be provided outside of attendance center boundary to licensed childcare centers.

  5. Recommendation: • Transportation service as indicated earlier to be provided for two-years. • Procedure will be analyzed and evaluated during the second year to determine if the procedure should be continued.
