  2. BACKGROUND • Born in Florence, Italy • Very rich • She was a nurse • Her mom was British • Traveled a lot • Lived in London

  3. 1829 • She began writing her life story in French. • Florence had been sick at the time she was writing her life story in French.

  4. 1853 • She became a superintendent of a charity hospital in London. • She wanted to help keep people healthy and active.

  5. 1854 • She led thirty-eight nurses to serve in the Crimean War. • Florence was very happy when she found out she could go to the Crimean War because she always wanted to help more than just the people in her town.

  6. 1860 • She opened the Nightingale Training school for nurses. • Florence was never going to give up, ever.

  7. 1870 • Florence helped start the first British Red Cross. • Florence was very old at the time.

  8. Character Traits • She was a very generous nurse because she like to help people • She was a very respectful and responsible nurse because she treated the patients with respect. • Florence was very caring because she helped many of the hurt soldiers.

  9. Quote “Women have no sympathy and my experience of women is almost as big as Europe.” By: Florence Nightingale This means that from what she has seen, women are not always likely to feel bad for you.
