Introduction • In just a few words, God directly foretells His plan to save humanity through Jesus and destroy the works of the Devil, Satan • It can rightly be said that the Bible is the fulfillment of Gen. 3:15 • Therefore, how we understand this verse affects how we understand the rest of the Bible

Introduction • We first look at what it means and its immediate context • Then, we turn to how it affects our understanding of the Old Testament regarding the history of individuals and the nation of Israel • Finally, we look at how Gen. 3:15 is fulfilled in the New Testament through the coming of Jesus to save us from our sins and thoroughly defeat Satan

  4. Immediate Context of Gen. 3:15 • Gen. 3:15 is spoken by God to Satan after he had tempted Eve, she and Adam choosing to sin • God curses the serpent and foretells the conflict of Satan with humanity, those who serve Satan and those who serve God and Satan and Christ

God Places Enmity Between Satan’s Offspring And God’s Offspring • The seed of the serpent are the spiritual offspring of Satan who follow his will • The seed of the woman are the spiritual offspring of God who follow His will • Since these two wills are in direct conflict, then those who follow them will be in conflict, whether individuals or nations

God Places Enmity Between Satan’s Offspring And God’s Offspring • 1Jn 3:7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; • 1Jn 3:8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
