  2. Why should you take notes in class? To minimize your “rate of forgetting” Dr. Walter Pauk, Cornell University Reading Center • Don’t take notes = Forget 60% in 14 days • Take some notes = Remember 60% • Take organized notes and do something with them= Remember 90-100% indefinitely

  3. What are Cornell Notes? Simply a way to organize your notes to maximize learning.

  4. Cornell Notes: Look like this… Or You can make your own!

  5. Write lecture notes here: • Use short sentences or parts of sentences • Make lists • Use common abbreviations you can understand later • Skip lines between main ideas or topics Write main ideas, or questions here. Try to sum up the content of your notes in 1-3 sentences here.
