  1. Recycling is always the first thing that comes to mind when we discuss the sustainable use of plastic. In reality, countries have already begun to take steps to recycle all plastic generated worldwide. However, given that just 9% of the entire amount of plastic generated in Europe is now recycled, the statistic appears to be quite a ways off. This statistic contributes relatively little to addressing environmental issues when compared to the volume of plastic generated globally. 360 million tonnes of plastic were generated globally in 2018, of which 40% was used for packaging, study shows.

  2. Reusable packaging, sometimes referred to as returnable packaging, is packaging intended to be used repeatedly. Such packaging combines strength, use, and cleaning simplicity. These include industrial and transport packaging as well as consumer products like beverage containers and zip-lock bags. By lowering the need for production, it contributes to further reducing the carbon footprint. Here are a few of the key advantages of using reusable containers.

  3. Environment Benefits A company's carbon footprint may be significantly reduced by using a returnable supply chain. For instance, single-use corrugated packing may result in collected waste material in enormous volumes in landfills if your organisation requires continuous product transportation between manufacturing or factory sites. Additionally, it will result in higher production energy costs. Reusable packaging reduces the need for raw materials, energy, and trash production in such circumstances. Consumer items are a significant area where single-use plastic is used. Reusable packaging, such zip-lock bags, may significantly cut down on home plastic waste.

  4. Cost Reduction Reusable packaging is economical and kind to the environment. Companies may save money on the cost of raw materials, energy, and labour by decreasing the need to repeatedly produce single-use packaging. Reusable packaging is more robust and long-lasting than single-use packaging since it is made for repeated usage. As a result, it shields the goods from harm and lowers losses.

  5. Applications of Reusable Packaging • It is widely used for delivering ingredients/raw materials to the processing unit, and transporting subcomponents to the facility for assembling. • Another application is the work in process sites where products/materials are constantly transported to different sites or manufacturing units, or even to temporary storage units before processing. • As a world-renowned organization, it has actively promoted sustainability by enabling a circular economy for flexible packaging.
