  1. Are You The Right Candidate For Online Learning Given the fact that employers are now demanding that their employees continually update their skills, getting back to an online college has become quite the norm. While millions of students sign up for online courses, very few manage to complete them. Lack of time, commitment and motivation could be blamed the abysmal completion rates. Sometimes, it is the student and his improper understanding of the online learning platform that is responsible. If you are planning to take an online course, here are a few pointers to keep in mind: You Are Self- motivated: Unlike a traditional classroom setup online learning can be very lonely. Irrespective of the fact that there are countless other students who have signed up for the course, you still have to sit in front of your computer alone. Online learning is more self-paced in the sense that you do not have an instructor standing over you or offering help with issues. Students have to take the initiative to complete tasks without being told to do so. Before you enroll, ensure that the course offers plenty of opportunities for interaction between students and instructors. Some colleges have forums where students can share resources, ideas, or ask questions. You Are Self-disciplined: Most online courses are self-paced, i.e. the student can move from one segment (of the course) from to another at his own pace (but within the stipulated time limit). While this is ideal for working professionals who are busy juggling several commitments at the same time, it can also be discouraging for procrastinators. If you are the type to leave things until ‘tomorrow’ choose term based courses. These programs follow a structured academic calendar with predetermined start and end dates. As for finding time to complete your assignments on time, you can always pay someone to take my online class. Your Technology Skills Are Good: You do not have be a geek to take an online course. But it is important to have an understanding of basic computer skills like using word processing software, downloading files, using web browsers, searching for information on the internet, using different software tools, etc. You Are Not Afraid To Seek Help: In an ideal classroom environment, you can always walk up to your professor/student guide counselor to seek help. But online environments are different. Unless you ask, the assumption is that you know things. You may have to take the initiative and ask for help.
