  3. Location • Location – the exact or relative position of a place • Example • The Acropolis of Ancient Greece is located at 38 degrees North latitude and 24 degrees East longitude.

  4. Place • Place – identifying distinguishing features and comparing them to natural or human-made features of other areas • Example • The Acropolis is nearly a 10-acre flat-topped, rocky hill around which Athens was bulit.

  5. Human / Environment Interaction • Human / Environment Interaction – people influencing and being influenced by their surroundings • Example • On top of the Acropolis, the Ancient Greeks built magnificent temples and palaces.

  6. Movement • Movement – ways in which people, goods, and information move from one place to another • Example • Conquering armies passed through Athens, leaving the buildings on the Acropolis in ruins that stand today.

  7. Region • Region – the common features that help make an area special • Example • Athens is on a plain in central Greece, bordered on the west, north, and east by mountains.
