The most representative one is Luciferase in firefly, which is called Photinus pyrali.Fluorescence is produced by the oxidation of luciferin in the corresponding chemical reactions, and in some cases the reaction system also includes adenosine triphosphate (ATP).Without luciferase, luciferin reacts very slowly with oxygen, and the presence of calcium ions often accelerates the reaction further (similar to muscle contraction).
