1. GARGLENES Gladiatores multos Annos Rexerunt; Gladiatores Libertatem Exspectabunt; Necabunt, Eripient et Spectabuntur.

2. GARGLENES Training System The GARGLENES ludus features the very best trainers in all of Italia. Terentius Popillius, the famed Thraecian who beat 25 opponents in his career, was trained at GARGLENES and now works as the premier trainer for our gladiators. A rigorous training system prepares gladiators for the arena, training them in all areas of skill such as swordplay, endurance and weaponry.

3. Gladiatores Our famous Quinctius Sallustius is a Thraecian gladiator. The Thraex fights with ocrea (leg greaves), a small square shield, a galea (helmet) and a sica (scimitar). Calpurnius Durmius is a Myrmillo. A Myrmillo has a special galea decorated with a fish, manicae (wristbands), ocrea, and a gladius (sword).

4. Weapons Our gladiators study various types of weapons. These include: gladius: sword hasta: lance iaculum: net sica: scimitar fascina: harpoon tridens: trident

5. A Gladiator’s Diet Gladiators need plenty of proteins and fat to keep them going in the arena They are fed a diet high in beans, specially cooked to avoid side effects. They also eat a special bread made of bean flour and wheat for protein. A gladiator eats 3,000+ calories a day. Their diet is rich in oils, and some dairy products, but they never eat butter.

6. Our Medical Staff Our staff is trained by the prestigious Hippocrates School of Medicine. It teaches the newest and most advanced medical techniques of the day. We also have specialists who have trained as war doctors and are experienced in treating all injuries. Plastic surgeons fix and correct any facial bone injuries of our gladiators. When we operate on our gladiators, we make sure we have the most advanced tools, such as scalpels and forceps, and we also sterilize them by boiling. We always use anesthetics such as opium, henbane and mandrake.

7. A Day At The ArenaMorning The morning will feature a number of animal fights, such as hippopotami versus. elephants. Gladiators in two chariots will fight a herd of rhinoceros. The audience will be supplied with rocks to throw at whoever they please. The great Venatio will commence: Gladiators with superior weapons and armor will fight a large variety of exotic beasts!

8. Lunch A retiarius will be pitted against a few poorly armed criminals. Our staff at GARGLENES will supply lunch – loaves of bread thrown into the stands. Lunch will conclude with a themed fight – the terrible criminal Licinius Meridius, against a doe with golden horns, armed only with a bow and a single golden arrow, will reenact Hercules capturing the Cerynitian Hind!

9. Afternoon The afternoon will feature five matched pairs of gladiators, trained at the GARGLENES ludus. Andabatae: Blindfolded gladiators on horseback! An extra horse will be galloping around the arena for more confusion. Retiarius v. Secutor: An amateur pair. Essedarii: Gladiators on chariots, armed with lances. Saggitarii: Mounted gladiators with enormous reflex bows and arrows! And last but not least…

10. THRAEX V. MYRMILLO Our two most skilled gladiators, Quinctius Sallustius and Calpurnius Durmius will fight each other in a unsurpassable display of strategy and endurance.

11. Price The total cost for everything is 886,700 Sestertii 822,500 Sestertii is spent between the morning and lunch alone 63,200 is spent on the matched pairs of gladiators
