  5. Team Expectations • Your coaches expect you to be: • Safe • Respectful • Responsible • Resourceful

  6. Be a team ‘playah’! • When working in a group your coaches expect you to: • listen without interrupting; • restate what person has said to show that you understand; • acknowledge their thoughts / feelings; • make eye contact while you’re listening AND while you’re speaking; • agree and disagree RESPECTFULLY; • “I can see why you think that, but I’m thinking…because…” • Support your ideas / opinions • compromise rather than argue; • encourage each other; • stay on task in order to complete your work in a timely manner.

  7. Huddle Up! • Work with your group to list what players should DO to be a team ‘playah’. • Group 1: Safe • Group 2: Respectful • Group 3: Responsible • Group 4: Resourceful

  8. Safe • We expect you to be safe by: • following our school and classroom rules and procedures; • listening to and following the directions of your coaches; • keeping your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself; • walking in a quiet, orderly line to and from class; • refraining from bringing weapons or drugs to school; • refraining from horse play.

  9. Respectful • We expect you to be respectful by: • having a positive attitude toward your peers, coaches, substitutes, and other adults in our building; • following our school and classroom rules; • valuing and protecting our school’s and other people’s property; • listening to and following the directions of our coaches; • leaving other people’s things alone; • using manners; • encouraging and helping your teammates to do their best.

  10. Responsible • We expect you to be responsible by: • doing the right things for the right reasons; • taking care of our things; • taking pride in keeping our school building and campus clean and inviting; • bringing your required materials to each class; • completing and turning in assignments on time; • taking ownership of your actions; • taking ownership for your learning.

  11. Resourceful • We expect you to be resourceful by: • thinking creatively to solve problems for yourself; • using available resources to help you; • being efficient in completing tasks. • taking time to think about the resources and materials you’ll need and gather them.

  12. Transitions and Hallway Expectations • At the end of class, your group will be dismissed when everyone in your group is packed up, quiet, and has heads down. • All personal items should be kept in book bags. No ‘playah’ should keep personal items in desks. • Then you should: (when going to rotation or lunch) • place your book bag along the wall outside your next classroom; • line up on the blue tiles outside that classroom, facing the school’s common area. • On coach’s signal, you should walk in a single-file line on the blue tiles on the right-hand side of the hall. • You should keep hands and feet to yourself and remain silent. • Your coach will signal when the line should stop or go.

  13. Transitions and Hallway Expectations • The coach for the next class will pick you up from rotation or recess. • On the way back to class, the same hallway expectations apply as before. • As you line up outside your next class, pick up your book bag and wait in line quietly at the door. • After you have been greeted by your coach, you may enter the room quietly, get out your materials for that class, and SLANT. • No one may sharpen pencils after homeroom. If you need a new pencil you should follow the coach’s procedures for trading.

  14. The Jane and the John • You will have two planned opportunities to use the restroom during the school day. • before Art /Music: in bathrooms outside of the lunch room or; • after P.E.: in bathrooms outside of lunch room; • before Computer Lab: in restrooms on blue hall, and • before or after recess: in restrooms on blue hall or outside of lunch room. • Please make sure to keep restrooms clean! • Bathroom monitors will enter first and check the condition of the restroom. • If no problems are reported, four girls and five boys may enter at a time.

  15. The Jane and the John • Monitors will give out hand sanitizer when you finish, so there is no need to use the dryers. • After everyone has used the restroom, the monitors themselves may use the restroom, and then check to make sure the bathrooms are left in the condition they were found. • Get IN and get OUT! There is no time to play or socialize! • Only ask to use the restroom during instruction if it is an emergency. This should not become a habit!

  16. Lunchroom • You should enter the lunchroom quietly in a single file line while keeping your hands and feet to yourselves. • If you brought your lunch, you may go ahead and find a seat at your assigned table. • There should be no talking until everyone has been served and is seated. • If you did not bring your lunch you should have an idea of what you want before you enter the lunch line. • As you enter the lunch line, you should remain quiet so the lunch workers can hear classmates’ choices. • Students should be respectful to lunch workers. • Yes please, no thank you, thank you etc…….

  17. Lunch Room • Each week your teacher will choose one student to be the lunchroom cup monitor. • Red Cup (Silent) • Green Cup (Talk quietly) • Yellow Cup (Warning / Keep it down)

  18. Lunch Room • After you have been served, get what you need from the condiment table and have a seat at your assigned table. • Once you are seated, STAY seated, unless you have an emergency. • The RED cup will be displayed until everyone has been served and is seated. • After everyone has been served and seated, the cup monitors will change the cup to GREEN and you can talk quietly with only your teammates that are sitting across from you or right next to you on either side. • If the noise level gets too high, the cup monitors will be instructed to change the cup to YELLOW and back toRED if necessary.

  19. Lunch Room • A few minutes before we dismiss from lunch, the cup monitor will change the cup back to RED (silent). • You should then completely clean up your area and wait to be dismissed. • Each table will be dismissed one at a time, beginning with one side of the table, with the opposite side following in the same direction. • When your row has been dismissed, take your tray and empty your scraps and trash into the trashcan at the end of your table. • Then take your tray to the wash line and stack it neatly to be washed. • You should then WALK to line up quietly in a single file line, waiting for your coach to signal when to leave the lunch room.
