DOE HUB Task Areas Co-Applicants • DOE Co-Applicant: Penn State • $122 million over 5 years • NIST Co-Applicant: DVIRC • $1.5 million over 3 years • SBA Co-Applicant: Wharton SBDC • $1.2 million over 4 years • EDA Co-Applicants: PIDC and BFTP • $5 million over 5 years Tools for integrated design, verification, and modeling New components, sub-systems, and controls Public policy, behavior, economics, and business Education and workforce development Demonstration, deployment, and IP management Strategic Focus Full-spectrum retrofit of existing average size commercial and multi-family residential buildings. 3

The Navy Yard • $30 million of new Commonwealth capital funding for GPIC facilities • 270 existing buildings and new buildings that can be utilized as test beds • Independently owned utilities including electric distribution grid • Three new DOE research and education centers on site: • DOE Mid-Atlantic Clean Energy Applications Center • DOE Northern Mid-Atlantic Solar Training Center • DOE GridStar Smart Grid Training Center • Strategic location with easy access and support services • Zone 4A climate that has four distinct seasons

Building 661 Full Spectrum Energy Efficient Retrofit Two Navy Yard buildings to house HUB personnel Full-spectrum retrofit of historic Building 661 New advanced integrated building sciences laboratory Living laboratories to transform the industry’s current fragmented serial process into system performance driven, integrated, parallel, team processes.
