Welcome to the Master List of Documents (MLD) • The MLD is where you should be able to find all the documents you need to do your job – unless it is specific to you and your team in which case it can be held as (for example) desk instructions within your area. • It is maintained by MCA staff for MCA staff • EVERYONE must be involved; if you notice documents missing, or out of date tell the owner – whose name is in the ‘more info’ box below the document title. • This presentation aims to give you a basic introduction to the new MLD and its functions • For more information about the MLD, or any other Quality Management issues, e-mail the QMSHotline, or call on 023 80329245 • Do not search for MLD documents on the MNet ‘Site search’ you will not get the correct information safer lives, safer ships, cleaner seas

  3. To search the body of text in every document on the MLD - use one of these two searches. You can use “” in these searches to reduce your ‘hits’ Once in the document use Control + f to search the body of text. safer lives, safer ships, cleaner seas

  4. safer lives, safer ships, cleaner seas If you what to just search documents by words in their title/name use this search If you want to search for a document by its number use this one Note: search only using the prefix of the number If you want to search for a document by the date it was issued, or its revision date use this one

  5. Documents have been grouped into areas of work. By clicking here you can view all the latest documents issued to your area of work, e.g. Marine Office, Coastguard, Head Quarters, Sector Managers (see 5067 on the MLD for a breakdown of these groups). Or you can simply browse this list for all documents issued recently safer lives, safer ships, cleaner seas

  6. What are Categories? These are the categories Click on these and its sub-group will open up alongside the ‘search’ button. Click on a sub group and a list of documents held in this group will be displayed – you can also include archived documents by ticking the box. You can scroll through these documents a-z, z-a, 1-10, 10-1, last & first. safer lives, safer ships, cleaner seas

The Process Function will continue to evolve For information only - under constructionWork Across the Agency is currently identifying MCA Key Business Processes.The MLD is designed to support this ongoing work. Once complete you will be able to find a document via the work it relates to. The example on the next slide gives you an idea of how Process Navigation will work once complete.
