  2. Belarus is East of Poland and is about the size of Kansas andborders Russia, The Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania.

  3. Belarus is a republic in name but is actually a dictatorship.

  4. The Capitol of Belarus is Minsk..

  5. Belarusia’s terrain is mostly flat but it has many lowlands in the North and South and has many rivers, small lakes, marshes, and swamps.

  6. Belarus gained their independence when the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991.

  7. As of 2010 the estimated population in Belarus is 9,648,533.

  8. Most of these people are Eastern Orthodox.
