About SJHS:Daily Schedule 2010-2011 Doors to the school open at 7:30 a.m. 0. 8:00-8:20 Advisory 1. 8:25-9:15 2. 9:20-10:10 3. 10:10-11:45 4. 11:50-12:40 Lunch/Class 5. 12:45-1:35 6. 1:40-2:30 Students must leave the building by 2:45 p.m. unless under the direct supervision of a school employee

  4. About SJHS:Advisory Advisories provide students with opportunities to build positive relationships and promote academic preparedness. Components: • First 20 minutes of each day. • Time allocated to preparing for student led conferences • Weekly Schedule: • Monday SJHS Orientation & Homework Help • Tuesday 9th grade Math skill building • Wednesday 9th grade Reading • Thursday 9th grade Eagle Pride • Friday 9th grade Activity day

Plan and Prepare for your Future • Education opens doors! • Start talking about the future and what you want for your student after high school. • While there are many factors that will determine the kinds of opportunities that will come your way, the most significant determining factor will be your education.

High School Credit Graduation Requirements: Mr. Wippler and Mr. Ochocki • Based on grades 9-12 • Students are required to earn 43 credits to graduate from District #834 • 32 credits are required courses • 11 credits are elective courses • Credit opportunities: • 12 credit opportunities in Grade 9 • 36 credit opportunities in Grades 10-12

Credit Requirements in Specific Areas • Number of credits required each area: • Language Arts 8 credits • Social Studies 8 credits • Mathematics 6 credits • Science 6 credits (including Biology) • Health 1 credit • Physical Ed. 1 credit • Art 2 credits Total required courses 32 credits Total elective courses 11 credits Total courses required 43 out of 48 possible opportunities

  9. Requirements for College Entrance Cumulative GPA is calculated for grades 9-12. Beginning with the Class of 2010, Stillwater Area High School has a dual ranking system for grading in all of our Advanced Placement (AP) and College in the Schools (CIS) courses. These courses are weighted with a 1.2 multiplier to establish the weighted rank. SAHS awards academic letters to students who earn a GPA of 3.6 or above.

  10. Decile Ranges • Purpose of Deciles: The decile system is used in place of class rank so colleges can estimate where in the class the student fell. • Decile Calculation; The decile system shows which tenth of the class the student falls based on his/her GPA.

Honors English • Must apply for Honors English • Get application from Counselor or English teacher • Submit application with registration on February 18, 2010 • April 6-9, 2010, students will write their application essay in their English class • May/June-applications reviewed and letters with English placements sent out
