  3. Club Entry Requirements • Achieved at least stage7 of NPTS • Enter water at deep end safely • Swim 25m all 4 strokes with basic technique • Perform a forward somersault • Desire to train towards competition

  4. Development 1(2 x 45 mins a week)Tues 6.30-7.15 & Friday 7.00-7.45First point of entry to club swimming Training Aims and Objectives Correct technique on all 4 strokes
Be able to swim 100 IM correctly Correct starts, turns and finishes on all 4 strokes & IM
Relay takeovers
Using a pace clock
Rules of the sport
Sculling & games
Punctuality
Effective use of training equipment (fins, kickboard, drink bottle)
Introduction to low level competitions

Age Group 1 and 2AG1 – Swimmers aiming towards County/Regional timesAG2 – Those over 14 who still wish to compete but who don’t want to commit to more intense training as well as those who are accessing additional time at other clubs(4 or 5 x 1hr a week)Mon 8-9, Tues 7.30-8.30, Fri 7.30-9 (7.30-7.45 land based warm up), Sun 8-9am

  7. Training Aims and Objectives Develop stroke technique on all 4 strokes Learn & perfect starts, turns, finishes & relay takeovers
Learn to read the pace clock independently
Keep a logbook of training & competition results
Learn and practice basic stretching, body weight & core strength exercises
Be responsible for all training equipment (water bottle, fins, kickboard, pull buoy,)
Increase the distance covered in training sessions to improve endurance

Club Squad(3 x 1hr a week)Mon 8-9, Friday 7-8, Sun 8-9am • This squad provides opportunities for those swimmers who for various reasons don’t have the required training commitment or desire to compete in competition • It provides for those who wish to keep fit in a structured environment • Does not exclude competition entirely

  9. Masters/Triathlon3 x 1hr per week Training Aims and Objectives • To swim for fitness in a structured environment • To train to compete in Triathlon events • To train to compete in Master’s swimming meets • To develop stoke technique and endurance for all 4 strokes

  10. Time scale • March – Initial Meeting with Parents/Swimmers • Early March until Easter Holidays – Parent/Swimmer meetings to discuss squad options • W/b April 16th (after Easter Holidays) New Squads to start
