  8. NEED TO KNOW OCEAN FREIGHT Ocean Freight is regulated by Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) that all rates moving to/from the United States are to be filed with FMC. There are two types of rate structure in this trade: by service contract for each individual account or by public tariff. Cargo rating would be based on cargo receiving date. That is either contract amendment or tariff rate would have to be in effect on/before cargo receiving. Once getting Bill of Lading, freight charges and customs clearance, the container can be released to consignee.
