Network News – In the Trenches • Login Issues – don't just lump them all together • User Name/Password ? • Tree or Server cannot be found? - We need to know • Internet Issues – District-Wide • Making System Changes During Spring Break • Zen 10 Error :User authentication failed during a refresh.... • “Mostly” Occasional & Random • Cosmetic – can be cancelled/closed • Backup Problems with Files on Shared Drive (S:)

Files & Folders • Be Organized • Folder structure should be logical and make sense • Teach Organization – Don’t forget the students !! • YOU should create the folder structure for your building • Students should not be making folders except on their H: drive • Use Naming Standards for both folders & files • The names should at least make sense • POOR NAMING CAN CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS • i.e. kf’eok eg[kregrLgrtlpee;;r-r-gg01022#$90).jpg • Backup software (and other file utilities) may not run properly.

  5. GroupWise Advanced Signature Blocks & Electronic Business Cards

  6. Signature Block • Easy to control look & feel • Can have multiple Signature Blocks • If Using Multiple – should not use “Automatically Add” Electronic Business Card • A.K.A vCard • Harder to control look & feel • Difficult to have multiple • You cannot change the info in it

PC Replacement Status • Completed: Parkwood, Northeastern, Arcadia. • Next Up: Milwood Ele, King-Westwood, Northglade, Washington, Edison, Woods Lake, Lincoln Woodward, Indian Prairie, Greenwood. • Still need Checklist completed and Software list for: Northglade, Prairie Ridge, Spring Valley, Winchell. • Loy Norrix Computer Labs K5E, K5W, C21, and D10 will be replaced over spring break.

Elementary Music Software • Recently completed installation of MusicAce Maestro, and Jamtrax. • MusicAce Maestro is network based music/keyboard software installed on the Xtenda’s in each elementary music classroom. The managerial software is installed on each teacher computer. • Jamtrax is a program that allows you to arrange “loops” of sampled music to create original compositions. Students can also record their own voice along with the composition. These compositions can then be saved on to a CD and distributed freely.

  10. Burning a CD cont’ Then Click on “Burn”above, drag the file to the burn list, and then the “Start Burn” button below right.

  11. CD Playback • New CD players typically play many formats including .mp3, .wav, .wma (windows media audio), just to name a few. • Older CD players will typically only play audio CD’s, mostly because the other formats were too new or not yet invented.
