  3. are IT / IS projects in your firm treated as entitlements? • what organizational consequences can you expect as “alignment” of resources occur (remember the speed of alignment is dependent upon the speed of hardware technology changes and information systems technology changes)?

  4. the text at this point assumes that you can ask the right questions and understand the answers – most firms never make it far along the continuum

  5. Affordability • IT / IS is approaching 50% of firms’ budgets • the authors use Carr (“IT Doesn’t Matter) as the basis for ‘spend less and make more profit’ • the authors point to Strassman works as showing investment in IT / IS as not being correlated to profits

  6. while the authors say they believe IT / IS is critical, not measurement methodology is yet given in the text • How would you measure IT / IS investments?
