  3. Class of 2019 Senior Interview • Important! Graduating from high school is YOUR responsibility. Counselors are here to help, but ultimately it is YOUR diploma. Please check all paperwork for inaccuracies. • Senior Folder • Look over the transcript and make note of any errors or questions you have • Verify your diploma option • Fill in half-sheet with name, college choice, post-secondary interest, and first generation status (have either of your parents attended college). • Please be sure to look through the Senior Packet!

Senior Year • College Admissions • Now is the time to be looking at the colleges you are interested in applying to for admission next fall. • www.collegeboard.com is a great resource for exploring colleges throughout the country. • Every college has a webpage! Start the search now! • Scholarships • Now is the time to begin researching scholarships. The schools you are interested in attending all have financial aid and scholarship webpages. • Two resources: www.fastweb.com and www.collegeboard.com are great sites to search. • Check our College & Career website: www.coltsgo2college.weebly.com

Millennium Scholarship • $10,000 for Nevada colleges/universities • Eligibility • Graduate from a Nevada public or private high school • You must have been a resident of Nevada • You must complete high school with at least a 3.25 GPA • If you don’t meet the GPA requirement, you must: have an ACT composite score of 21 or higherOR a combined (reading and math) SAT score of 1070 • High School Courses Units • English 4 • Math (including Algebra II) 4 • Natural Science 3 • Social Studies/History 3 TOTAL 14 • HOW IS INITIAL ELIGIBILITY DETERMINED? • Your school district will submit your name to the State Treasurer’s office if you are an eligible Millennium Scholar. • There is no application form for you to complete.

Federal Application for Student Aid – FAFSAhttps://fafsa.ed.gov/ • You can begin filling out the FAFSA starting on October 1st • Wooster’s FAFSA Night is on October 17th from 5-7pm • To fill out the FAFSA, you will need: • Student’s and parents’ social security numbers • Alien registration number (if you are not a citizen) • Student’s and parents’ 2017 W-2 forms • Student’s and parents’ 2017 income tax returns • Your FSA ID • Get your FSA ID here: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid

University of Nevada AdmissionsApply Online: www.unr.edu/apply Required High School Courses Admission Waivers Class of 2019 Important Dates English 4 years Math 3 years (Algebra 1 or higher) Science 3 years (bio, chem, physics, and at least 2 years in a lab science) History 3 years Must have a core cumulative GPA in the above classes of a 3.0 If a first-time new student does not meet the 3.0 academic gpa requirement, he or she may use an SAT I Critical Reading and Math combined score of 1120 or an ACT composite score of 22 in place of the gpa requirement. UNR Pack Advantage Scholarship • Last dollar funding which guarantees a minimum of $8,500 in gift aid to qualifying students • Must be a Nevada resident, enrolled in full-time course load, FAFSA submitted by 2/1 deadline • Pell grant eligible • If qualifications are met, UNR promises that your gift aid will cover the cost of class registration and books each year for up to four years so long as you maintain Pell eligibility and satisfactory academic progress.

  11. TMCC – Steps to Enroll • Apply for admission – https://webapps.tmcc.edu/admissionapp/ • Complete an application for admission and view important dates and deadlines. If you have questions, contact the Admissions and Records office. • Fill out the FAFSA • Take an entrance exam (ACT,SAT, ACCUPLACER) • Complete New Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) – orientation.tmcc.edu • SOAR part I is online and covers information and resources you need to be successful. • SOAR part II is your chance to meet with the advising staff, prepare a first semester class schedule and register. • Register and pay for classes • Take care of this through MyTMCC using your TMCC username and password.

Nevada Promise Scholarship • Beginning with the graduating class of 2018, high school seniors in Nevada may apply for the Nevada Promise Scholarship at TMCC. • This scholarship will provide up to three years of no cost registration fees and other mandatory fees to eligible students. • TMCC Fall 2019 Application Available at apply.tmcc.edu. • Nevada Promise Scholarship Application available at nvpromise.tmcc.edu. • OCTOBER 31st DEADLINE • Students are awarded in order of application received – so apply ASAP.

  17. TMCC – Accuplacer Prep • The Accuplacer placement test is a computerized test used to assess student skill levels in reading, English and math. This assessment will show student strengths and weaknesses resulting in proper class assignments. It is offered to all students who did not take, or who are not satisfied with their SAT or ACT results. • The ACCUPLACER will be offered at Wooster on March 19th & 20th from 9am to 12pm • Or you can take it anytime up at TMCC • The Official ACCUPLACER Study App: Visit: itunes.apple.com/us/app/official-accuplacer-study/id479626721?mt=8.

If you are a resident of a WICHE state, you are eligible to request a reduced WUE tuition rate of 150% of the resident rate at more than 150 participating institutions in the West. Search our WUE database to see which institutions participate, and which programs are available at the WUE rate. WICHE states include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The “Brag Sheet” • The “Brag Sheet” is a form that you’ll fill out in order to help people who are writing letters of recommendation get a better idea of who you are and what you have accomplished as a student. • The brag sheet includes your GPA, honors and AP classes, test scores, academic honors and awards. • You may also list volunteer and community service hours, extracurricular activities, work experience, interests, hobbies and talents. • Include obstacles or challenges you have overcome, or personal or academic accomplishments you have achieved. • Be honest • Find a brag sheet in your Senior Packet Folder

  21. NCAA Eligibility • ELIGIBILITYCENTER.ORG • If you want to play NCAA sports at an NCAA Division I or II school, you need to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at eligibilitycenter.org. The Eligibility Center works with you and your high school to certify your initial eligibility. • CORE COURSES • Not all high school classes are NCAA core courses. A core course prepares you for a four-year college and is taught at or above your high school’s regular academic level. Visit eligibilitycenter.org for a full list of your high school’s core courses.
