Ephesians 2:1-9 • 1 As for you, you were dead in your • transgressions and sins, • 2 in which you used to live when you • followed the ways of this world and of the ruler • of the kingdom of the air, • the spirit who is now at work in those • who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived • among them at one time, gratifying the cravings • of our flesh and following its desires • and thoughts. Like the rest, we were • by nature deserving of wrath.

  3. 4 But because of his great love for us, • God, who is rich in mercy, • 5 made us alive with Christ • even when we were • dead in transgressions • —it is by grace you have been saved. • 6 And God raised us up with Christ • and seated us with him in the • heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

  4. 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, • expressed in his kindness • to us in Christ Jesus. • 8 For it is by grace you have been • saved, through faith • —and this is not from yourselves, • it is the gift of God— • 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

  9. Rom 6:3,4 all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

  10. 7 in order that in the coming ages • he might show the incomparable riches • of his grace, expressed in his kindness • to us in Christ Jesus. • 8 For it is by grace you have been • saved, through faith—and this is not from • yourselves, it is the gift of God— • 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

  11. 1 John 1:5-7 • This is the message we have • heard from him and declare to you: • God is light; in him there is no darkness • at all.6 If we claim to have fellowship with him • and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not • live out the truth.  • 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in • the light, we have fellowship with one • another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, • purifies us from allsin.

  12. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
