  2. Objectives Look at the riddles in The Hobbit and be able to • understand and explain how this was a turning point in the main character’s adventure • solve riddles on your own • come up with a riddle on your own

  3. “Riddles In the Dark” Let’s look at Chapter 5 of The Hobbit pages 68 - 90 • Bilbo Baggins finds something • Bilbo meets a new creature • Bilbo wins a game -- barely! • Turning point for Bilbo

  4. Below is the movie interpretation of page 68 through the middle of page 72 when Bilbo finds the ring. In the form at the end of this presentation, be able to answer the following question: 1. What are three main differences between the movie version and the book in the scene where Bilbo finds the golden ring? 2. Why did Bilbo’s sword/knife stop glowing?

  5. Watch the Video to see the movie interpretation of pages 72 and 73, how Bilbo meets the new creature. In the form at the end of this presentation, be able to answer these questions: 3.
