Science for Health & Development • INASP, PERI, and other help make the science literature available to developing country researchers • Local and global donor resources strengthen research capacity in developing countries • But, developing world scientists have great difficulty getting their research published

  6. Why? Industrial world authors have help: • Senior mentors • Author’s Editors Journals have fewer resources to help Commercial Open Access Authors must often write in English Potential mentors are over-committed

  7. The Consequences All investments in science for development will have diminished impact, as those closest to the most serious problems will not communicate their knowledge!

  8. JPHP & AuthorAID • Web-based matching of scientific mentors (and editors) with developing country researchers • Support these volunteers with a knowledge community website. • Evaluate it, to learn what works • Expand and replicate by problem, discipline, language, region, etc.
