How to Make Your Own Tornado in a Bottle! By: Brittany Koerner and Amanda Zygowicz I will pour the water into one of the bottles then put the pitcher away and show the audience the bottle. Then I will add blue food coloring and sparkles into the water All of the materials for the project will be laid out for them to see “You can add anything you’d like to your water. Just make sure it’s not to heavey. I’m adding blue food coloring and sparkles to my water.” “ The materials you need for this prodject will be: 2 empty plastic soda bottles, duct tape, a pitcher filled with water and by choice food coloring, sparkles or confetti.” “First pour the water into one of the bottles. Fill it about 3/4ths of the way” I will grab the duct tape and tape both of the bottles together at the spouts securely. I flip the bottles over so the water can pour into the bottom bottle, swirling it slowly. I’ll show the different ways you can tweak the tornado by swirling it faster and slower. “Then you will take the empty bottle and tape it on top of the filled bottle, connecting their spouts. Make sure its secure so no water spills out” “Now flip the bottles over and slowly swirl it and watch it create a whirlpool” “You can swirl the water faster and slower for different effects. Now you have your very own Tornado in a bottle!”
