  3. 1.Introduction to RCARO 1.1What is Regional Cooperative Agreement (RCA)? The RCA is an inter-governmental agreement for East Asia & Pacific region, under the auspices of the IAEA, in which the Government Parties undertake, in co-operation with each other and with the IAEA to promote and co-ordinate co-operative research, development (R&D) and training projects in nuclear science and technology through their appropriate national institutes. The RCA was started in 1972 andwith the participation of 17 Member States.

  4. 1.2Established of RCARO To provide enhanced visibility for the RCA and developing partnerships with other international organizations, RCA Regional Office (RCARO) was established on 27th March, 2002 in Daejeon, Korea. 1.3 Major Functionsof RCARO 1.3.1 To increase RCA visibility1.3.2 To promote RCA viability

  5. 2.Assignments at RCARO • To review the RCARO website, learning the mission, history, Member States, and cooperation projects of RCARO. 14-30 September • Search the homepage addresses of 17 Member States, copy the address and first screen of homepage of NR of Member states. 1-4 October • Help to do the preparation of RCARO Panels, 7-11 October • Attending the international training course on radiation techniques application during 12-14 October • Help to combine the 39th RCAGCM - Meeting Report, 26-28 October • Check the relevant documents of RCA, 1-5 November • Search the information of International Conferences and Symposium on Radiation and Isotope in 2011 from IAEA website, 15-17 November

  6. 2.1 Search the homepage addresses of 17 Member States by using search the internet, for example Yahoo, Google and so on, get the address and first screen of homepages of NR of Member states.

  7. 2.2 Help to do the preparation of RCARO Panels • RCA-UNDP Joint Project    on a Post -Tsunami Environmental Impact Assessment • RCA Project on Combating Soil Erosion-Caused Land Degradation in the Asia and Pacific Region--RAS5043 • RCA Project     on Distance-assisted Training for Nuclear Medicine Technicians - RAS6029

  8. 2.3 Attending the international training workshop on Research Reactor Utilization and Radiation Techniques Application From 12 to14 Oct., attended the 2010 RCARO/KAERI REGIONAL TRAINING WORKSHOP: Research Reactor Utilization and Radiation Application Technology in Advanced radiation Technology Institute (ARTI), Jeongeup, Jeollabuk.

  9. 2.4 Help to combine the 39th RCAGCM - Meeting Report Total 11 files of the 39th RCAGCM: Meeting Report, RCARO SAC Meeting Report, Meeting Agenda, Follow up Actions, RCA Programme of 2012-2013, Appointment of RCA Chair,RCA GOR (Operational), RCARO Director report and List of Participantshad been combined a Final Meeting Report by Dr. Maeng-HoYang’s guidance.

  11. 2.6 Search the information of International Conferences and Symposiums on Radiation and Isotope in 2011 From the IAEA website, the information of 44 International Conferences and Symposiums on Radiation and Isotope in 20111 were been collected, include the date, name, venue, contact unit or person, email, website and so on.

  12. 3.Lessons Learned from RCARO • Understanding about the operation of RCARO for the enhancement of RCA. • Understood importance meetings and conferences related to the RCA actives. • Once the temp staff were selected they should be informed in well advance of the nature of assignment to be done by them at RCARO so that they can come with well preparation. • RCARO should have a annual plan on activities to be assigned to its Temp Staff.
