  2. The Lord’s Prayer “For the kingdom, the power,and the glory are yours,now and for ever. Amen.” [ For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. ] Matthew 6:13 (NASB)

  3. The Lord’s Prayer A doxology “acclaims and celebrates the glory (doxa) of God.” Jews, followed by the early Christians, customarily added a doxology to the end of a spoken prayer.

  4. The Lord’s Prayer For example, David in 1 Chronicles 29:11 Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. 

  5. The Lord’s Prayer What does the traditional doxology add to the Lord’s Prayer? How should it impact our praying and our living? “Lexorandi, lexcredendiest” “The way we pray reveals what we really believe”

  6. The Lord’s Prayer The doxology raises a question: To whom do these things (kingdom, power, glory) belong? It affirms that these belong to the Triune God alone, and not to any pretenders.

  16. The Lord’s Prayer “For the kingdom, the power,and the glory are yours,now and for ever. Amen.” The doxology at end of Lord’s Prayer invites the True King to expose and heal our selfish devotion to the I-kingdom and the I-culture.

  17. The Lord’s Prayer Can we pray this prayer with soft, open hearts? Are we willing and do we desire for God to expose our selfish idolatries and to burn away what is I-centered rather than Thou-centered?
