  1. Humor in the classroom

  2. Warming up The most important thing to do before any workout, presentation, test, etc. is to warm up. Before I take you on a tour of laughter and an adventure into the never ending abyss of giggles, puns and jokes, lets warm up a little….. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sShMA85pv8M

  3. What is humor? Humor is defined as “something that is or is designed to be comical or amusing” Pretty simple- humor is something that is funny. Can be a pun, joke, action, voice, phrase or even facial expression

  4. Why Students will like humor School is typically not fun. Let’s be honest, kids will much rather be playing outside, watching TV, playing with toys or video games or pretty much anything else than sitting in a classroom. Our job is to educates students, but also make them like school. We want to make them enjoy coming in and look forward to class. We can do so by making them laugh. Making sure that they do not take school too serious and can joke around with you. Students will look forward to class knowing that it is a laid back atmosphere where work still gets done….the last thing they want is a class like this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmxpftPFXZg&feature=related

  5. What humor can do According to studies done at the SUNY colleges, “Students who have teachers with a strong orientation to humor tend to learn more.” Meaning, if students can laugh, make jokes and enjoy the classroom they will be more focused on what is going on and will therefore learn more. It is your obligation and duty to add humor into your classroom for the sake of your students. The more you can create laughter, the more engaged students will be

  6. How to do it? There is no magic formula for being funny. Your personality is your personality. I was blessed with an amazing personality and classic good looks, but not everyone is the same. So how then is it done if you do not have that delivery?

  7. I don’t like putting titles Making fun of yourself and taking light stabs at your students- students like that you do not see yourself as divine and they like that comfortable feeling Making funny or different voices- students will be curious and can’t help but listen Funny anecdotes about the topic or about yourself that relates to the topic- Keeps students interested and can bring a laugh Being unconventional
