  2. Stephen Krashen maintains that second language acquisition is based on input that is meaningful and comprehensible to the learner [Krashen, S. (1985), The Input Hypothesis: Issues and Implications, Longman ]. Comprehensible Input

  3. John Anderson postulates that second language acquisition is based on skills acquisition that advance a learner from declarative knowledge to procedural knowledge (Anderson, 2007). Adaptive Control of Thought Model

  4. Content-Based EL Instruction • Content-based ESL instruction can provide students with an opportunity to develop their cognitive academic language proficiency, which will help make instruction in their gen ed classrooms more comprehensible.

  5. Content-Based EL Instruction • It can teach ELs the skills they need to advance from cognitive knowledge of facts to a metalinguistic awareness which enables the learner to autonomously produce language based on internalized procedures.

  6. Putumayo’s World Playground • Contains songs from around the world from countries including: USA, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Senegal, Jamaica, Greece, France, Congo, Brazil and Israel. • I have developed lessons using music from the USA, Canada/Ireland, Australia, Bolivia, Greece and Denmark. • Use of Passport Journal to document world musical travels
