  2. Why? • no balance between night-time urine production and the capacity of the bladder to hold it • Genetic reasons

  3. Why? - continued • Stress • Anything that gets kids tired • Constipation • diabetes/ kidney failure • Anxiety • lack of the hormone ADH

  4. Who? • 1/6 of 5 year olds • 1/11 of 9 year olds • 1/50 to 1/100 of the age of 15 or older • Mostly boys • children's bladder function control and night-time urine production is slow • This is very common until the age of 3

  5. Symptoms • Not really a disease so there is no real symptom. • Only psychological symptom • People feel embarrassed, ashamed, disgusted, and more.

  6. Treatments • no caffeine drinks • drink lots of liquid during the whole day. ( not just at home) • No drink after 6 p.m. • go to the bathroom before sleeping • There are drugs, but not useful for long-term • Put on a potty

  7. Cleaning up • Put books or heavy stuff over newspaper that is over the spot you’ve wet

  8. Punishment • Oh- Joom-Ssa-Geh = 오줌싸개 • Kids used to wear these on their heads and go around the neighborhood to ask for salt.
