  1. 10/8 Honors Algebra Warm-up (6min) Katie works at Game Stop where video games cost $20.00 and if you buy 2 you get 2 free. She purchases 5 video games and uses her employee discount of 15%. If sales tax is 7.25%, how much does she spend on the games? Solve the formula V = πr2h for h. Then find the height of a cylindrical swimming pool that has a radius of 12 feet and a volume of 1810 cubic feet.

  2. 3: The formula represents the distance s an object travels with an initial velocity v, time t, and a constant rate of acceleration a.Solve the formula for v.

  3. Dimensional analysis: process of carrying units throughout a computation. 4: A sports car accelerates at a rate of 8 ft/s2and travels 100 feet in about 2.8 seconds. What is the initial velocity to the nearest tenth?

  4. 5: Mrs. Brittingham is draining her cylindrical above ground pool. The pool has a radius of 8 feet and a height of 5 feet. If the pool water is pumped out at a constant rate of 10 gallons per minute, about how long will it take to drain the pool? Write your answer in hours and minutes (1 ft3 = 7.5 gallons)

  5. Essential Questions • How is solving for a specific variable different from solving equations? 2. Why do we need to solve formulas for specific variables?
