  3. Facts about the decade: • The model T introduced in 1908 By 1916, as the price dropped to $360 for the basic touring car, • the RMS Titanic sank in 1912 • the start of WWI 1914

  5. The beginning of the period

  6. Corsets created an hourglass shape for women

  7. The end of the period

  8. Egyptian influences became popular with the discovery of King Tut’s tomb.

  9. Asian styles & accessories were also important well in to the 1920’s.

  10. Fabrics, & other accessories were also exotic

  11. Garments were delicate and highly decorated

  13. One of the first Fashion Designers: • PAUL POIRET • Poiret established his own house in 1903, • Known because he marketed and branded his design house “kimono coat” • Best known for freeing women of corsets • Developed the first designer purfume

  14. He was really the dude that eliminated corsets.

  15. The fictional illustrations of Charles Dana Gibson defined feminine beauty. Style Icon: the Gibson Girl

  16. She was tall, strong, spirited and feminine. She wore elegant decorated shirwaists(blouses) and full skirts. She was even featured on an American stamp (1998)!
