ACRE • ACRE is Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators http://www.acreducators.org/ • ACRE usually only Certifies CE or Customized Employment (wage jobs and job development employment practices for persons with disabilities in community or workplace) • ACRE trains and certifies rehab personnel to increase employment outcomes for persons with disabilities.

  3. ACRE & GHA • An organization can offer Certified Customized Employment by submitted a coursework proposal to ACRE. • Typically ACRE does not certify for SE (Self Employment) or ME (Micro Enterprise) • GHA (Griffin Hammis Assoc) has only SE/ME ACRE Approved Training

GHA • GHA is Griffin Hammis Associates. www.griffnhammis.com • CSC (Center for Social Capital) is GHA non-profit branch to develop statewide certification programs for vendors of both Customized Employment and Self Employment. http://www.centerforsocialcapital.org/ • GHA contracted with Florida DVR 6/08-6/10 to develop Vendor Certification Training through CBTAC’s (Certified Business and Technical Assistance Centers) using ACRE SE/ME Training.

DOE/DVR & CBTACs • Under FL Dept of Education/Dept of Vocational Rehab • CBTAC’s can be individuals or agencies. • General Registration Process: • Become State Certified Vendor first • Qualifications review CBTAC Manual and Procedures http://www.petergamache.com/Reports/FCSEmanual_Final.pdf • Attend CBTAC 3-day Certification Training with Ongoing Technical Assistance, Quarterly Meetings • Complete CBTAC application packet for approval

CBTAC Certification Training • Discovery and Introduction to Self-Employment • Systematic Instruction and Natural Business Support Facilitation • Business Idea Development and Feasibility Testing; Marketing and Sales Essentials • Quick Launch: Understanding and Writing Business Plans • Social Security Work Incentives/Quick Launch II • Negotiations, Problem-Solving and Customer Service for Small Business Owners & Supporters

  7. FL DVR CBTAC’s • Key Factors for CBTAC’s---Combination of Disability Assistance and Business Experience • VR Benchmarks such as Completed Business Plan, Feasibility Study, etc. are areas upon which Vendors can bill. • Florida VR is currently developing an extensive database to track benchmarks • Currently 92 VR Certified Vendors in the State of Florida

  8. Next Steps…? • The State of Texas is currently beginning to replicate Florida VR Standards • GHA Recommends Top-Level State Representative VR/MRS buy-in due to the massive systems, policy and cultural changes needed for full agency saturation and success …!
