CropLife America Stewardship Initiative Review

But How…Stewardship Framework Purpose: The voluntary Framework is a description of the guiding principles that comprise best practices for crop protection products • Codify theresponsible management of crop protection products through adherence to the Stewardship Framework • Encourage innovation in product stewardship practices and measures results with an audit on Framework compliance

  8. Framework - Objectives • High standard of protection for human health and the environment • Full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements • Maximize resources for industry stewardship efforts • Focus on the full product life cycle

Framework - Advantages • Provides measurable standards to prove the industry is a good steward of natural and human resources • Provides a clear and united front for industry and individual company advocacy • Provides a forum for industry to speak with one voice on the critical public health (clean water, food supply), economic (real costs/impacts) and environmental role the industry fills

Where to Start Overall umbrella stewardship program (Sept ‘13) Existing and new CLA stewardship projects organized under new banner program Stewardship activities will: • Highlight Framework with action • Maximize current resources • Lend themselves to clear metrics • Issues cut across Ag industry
