  2. A. Dhrtarastra’s Doubts • Didn’t want compromise b/w his sons and Pandavas • Fear of outcome of the battle. Why ?? • Holy place called Kurukshetra • Pandavas were virtuous • Krishna’s presence

  3. B. Duryodhana’s Diplomacy • Incites Dronacharya in relation to his disciple Dhrstadhyumna, the son of Draupada • Praises grandfather Bhishma for his immeasurable strength , but then asks everyone to support him. • Why? • Bhishma and Drona have affection for the Pandavas and might be lenient. • He wanted everyone to feel equally important

  4. C. Signs of victory for the Pandavas • Kurukshetra is a place of Pilgrimage • Krishna is driving Arjuna’s Chariot. • Wherever Krishna is present, the goddess of fortune is also present. • Arjunas Chariot was given by Agni which could conquer all sides. • Conch shell blowing . Why ?

  5. C. Signs of victory for the Pandavas • Conch shell is a symbol of Lord Vishnu. • Krishna’s and Arjuna’s were transcendental conch shells. • Result: • Dhrtarashtra’s sons’ hearts shattered! • Why not Pandavas?? They are devotees of Lord Sri Krishna. • Hanuman on Arjuna’s flag

  6. E. Arjuna Doubts • Compassion • No Enjoyment • Fear of Sinful Reactions • Destruction of Family • Indecision

  7. Arjuna’s Doubts • Arjuna is not an ordinary person • Arjuna’s high accomplishments could not help him • No matter how great one is, one needs Bhagavad-gita • Arjuna, an extra ordinary personality, could take out time to hear Bhagavad-gita

  8. Miseries in this material world • Life is always filled with anxieties • Problems of life: Birth, old age, disease and death • No species is permanent • Soul is eternal but body is changing • Forest fire • adhyätmika kleças, adhibhautik kleças,adhidaivika klesha • Adhyatmika klesha (envy) is the biggest problem • They can’t be overcome on one’s own
