Student Expectations • Come to school everyday ready to learn. • Always give his/her best effort. • Ask for help. • Respect her/himself and classmates. • Follow WSS Code of Conduct • Please read, review with your child, sign and return last page of WSS Handbook and the Cafeteria Expectation worksheet

  4. Parents’ Responsibility • Provide a safe environment to work in • Materials available at home • Minimal help – let your child show what has been learned • Discuss any concerns first with Mrs. Flett via phone calls or notes.

Components of Literacy • Guided Reading: • Weekly comprehension skill • Strategy instruction to implement skills • Differentiated instructional levels • Small group application • Shared Reading: • Core novels, read-aloud • SSR • (Silent Sustained Reading) Student driven selections- students MUST have book here to read • NYS Modules Incorporates Science and Social Studies curriculum • 20 Minute Nightly Reading Requirement = “Read 20”

Code of Conduct • Weekly Newsletter/Reports • Each Friday • Grades are recorded as well as self reflection of learning and behavior • MUST be read, signed and returned on following Monday (or next day of school) • Intentional typo on every Newsletter- students earn $$$$ • Behavior: Students are expected to follow the Code of Conduct as outlined in the WSS handbook.- Please read, review with your child, sign and hand in! • Rewards and Consequences: Money, phone calls, notes home, visit with principal , loss of free time

Parent Portal • Parent Portal provides you with 24/7 access to your child’s academic information. • You can view your child’s • attendance (daily and subject) • current grades • ongoing average • status of assignments • report card grades • Grades will be inputted every few weeks- look at Week in Review for grades each week! Loose Ends • Homework: • assignments expected next day- unless otherwise noted • send in a note if extenuating circumstances arise. • ONE homework pass a week- for all assignments that day- or if you state otherwise It is expected that each child is reading and practicing their multiplication tables on a nightly basis. Math fact tests will be taken daily to assess student progress. These will be graded occasionally as well. • HW is NOT factored into the grade for each subject area. BUT to earn full credit on tests and learning activities, homework must be completed in a timely manner! • Agendas are to be signed nightly, as they are used as a regular form of communication. • Team Website: • Possible links to online textbooks • Study tools and review materials

Loose Ends • Sign up • E-alert for changes on my website • Frontrowed.com- math site to help your child succeed or exceed • Parent- Teacher Conferences- Please sign up with your child’s READING teacher. • After completing the reminder form- take one of the slips of paper and LEAVE one • I’ll send second one home about 2-3 weeks before conferences!

  16. Loose Ends • Allergen Safe Room • NO NUTS! • Birthdays- must comply with list sent home- Did you sign the paper yet? • If it doesn’t- it will be sent back home! • Simple snack or item- plus song- no beverages • Please send in napkins if sending in food from list
