  11. Lessons for OER Lessons for OER • High quality inputs = high quality outputs • Resolving uncertainty over rights is a vital task • Intellectual property is not limited to the originating author’s work and images • Technological advances are constant and rapid • Need to be “bold” in your thinking if you are to get “ahead of the curve”

  12. What of the future? Publishers looking to use and re-use materials Opportunities to create engaging accredited learning; • Post graduate programs • Undergraduate programs • Pre-university programs Universities sharing in the development of programs Universities “buying in” core modules from respected sources Universities accrediting “open source” courses

  13. Where are we now? • The role of learners and learning is changing and there is no going back • Open access socially constructed learning will multiply, and its quality will improve • New business models will be required if we wish to continue to stimulate the creation of high quality content • Whilst making education more accessible, these changes will challenge the existing provider models • Those that adapt first, will be the most likely to survive!

  14. It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change Charles Darwin
