  6. QUICK RESPONSE TRAINING GRANTS Quick Response Training Grant (January 2011 – June 20, 2012) • Awards 43 • Total Dollars $10,418,324 • Jobs 9,411 • Average cost per trainee $1,108 • Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Allocation: $6 million available to Florida businesses as of July 1, 2012

  7. QUICK RESPONSE TRAINING GRANTS Designed to help new or expanding businesses train employees. It provides grant funding for customized training for new or expanding businesses. • Supports job creation • Helped businesses provide training for over 97,869 Floridians since 2000 • Trainees’ wages increased 47.57 percent on average within 15 months of completing training • For every public dollar invested, $11.68 in private funds were leveraged • State funded

Quick Response Trainingprovides grant funding for customized training for new or expanding businesses New or expanding Florida businesses must: • Produce an exportable good or service • Create new, full-time, high-quality jobs • Require customized entry-level skills training of 24 months or less which is not available at the local level Funding priority given to businesses: • Creating high-skill/high-wage jobs • In qualified targeted industries • Offering jobs located in a distressed, urban inner city, rural area, Enterprise Zone or Brownfield area • Whose grant proposals have the greatest potential for economic impact that contribute in-kind and/or cash matches Performance based reimbursable training expenses: • Instructors’/trainers’ salaries • Curriculum development • Textbooks/manuals

INCUMBENT WORKER TRAINING GRANTS Designed to help existing businesses train employees, Incumbent Worker Training provides grant funding for skills upgrade training to existing, for-profit businesses. • Supports job retention and skill improvement • Helped businesses provide training to more than 137,000 Floridians since 2000 • Trainees’ wages increased 25.53 percent on average within fifteen months of training completion • For every public dollar invested, $7.27 in private funds are leveraged • Federally funded

  11. INCUMBENT WORKER TRAINING GRANTS Incumbent Worker Training Grant (January 2011 – June 20, 2012) • Awards 320 • Total Dollars $8,644,379 • Jobs 16,553 • Average cost per trainee $522 • Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Allocation: $5 million available to Florida businesses as of July 1, 2012

INCUMBENT WORKER TRAINING GRANTS Existing Florida businesses must: • Have been in operation in Florida for at least one year prior to application date • Have at least one full-time employee • Demonstrate financial viability and be current on all state tax obligations Funding priority given to businesses: • With 25 or fewer employees • Located in a distressed rural area, urban inner city area or Enterprise Zone • In qualified targeted industries • Whose grant proposals represent a significant layoff avoidance strategy • Whose grant proposals represent a significant upgrade in employee skills Reimbursable training expenses: • Instructors’/trainers’ salaries/tuition • Curriculum development • Textbooks/manuals
