  9. Security Situation Update • Rear Area Threat: • Iraqi paramilitary activities north of Kuwaiti border • Travel in Iraq entails risk • Close interaction with HOC prior to departure is highly recommended to ensure receipt of the most recent security updates

Significant CMO/Civil Developments • The Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA)offering to send medical personnel and supplies to Iraq • Four Qatari Doctors and 12 pallets of humanitarian supplies moved forward from Salman Pak • NGO survey team arrived at Ar Rutbah • Will be sending medical equipment for the health facility • Ar Rutbah still in need of medicine and nutritional supplements

  12. Southern Highlights • An Nasiriyah • Police station opened for limited use • Registered 200 officers for traffic control and security • Basrah • Reports of urgent need of fuel for personal and commercial vehicles

Central Highlights • Baghdad • Localized power to many areas in Baghdad • Next 24 hours bring South Baghdad power station on line with Mas Tel substation • Within 96 hours expect to have entire grid system on line • Hospital reports and requirements for east Baghdad • Common requests: oxygen, generators • 41 private hospitals providing free care • Using government medical supplies

  15. Central Highlights • Karbala • 400-bed hospital undamaged • Fully operational • 45 surgical doctors, 100 total • Intermittent water • Running on emergency generators • An Numiniyah • Hospital only providing care for life-threatening injuries • Electricity and medicines are priorities

  16. Central Highlights • Ar Rutbah • Delivered two generators from Turaybil • Working to wire generator to the city’s power grid • Want to retrieve the two remaining generators to return full power to the entire city • Hadithah • Power restored; celebratory gunshots noted
