  1. Final Project of the year By Kenneth Brunner

  2. Geography • One thing I remember of the geography unit was the geography project that we were assigned to create a regional road trip using show me.

  3. Example: Geography • What region is Wisconsin in? The Midwest and great lakes region. • Pick a geographical feature from our region and define it. Superior is the highly elevated area of Wisconsin.

  4. First Americans • I remember there were at least three groups of first Americans cliff dwellers, mound builders, and the Aztecs.

  5. Exploration and explorers • This investigation we mapped the routes taken by explorers in the middle age of exploration.

  6. Example: Exploration • Bjarni Herjólfsson a Norse explorer • He was the first to discover the Americas in 985.

  7. Colonial America • When we learned about the colonists and the 13 colonies of the United States.

  8. Revolutionary war • The game that we played that was about an apprentice named Nate that wrote for the Boston gazette during the acts and the start of the revolutionary war.

  9. Example: Revolutionary war • Quartering Act- Letting Siolders in your home and helping them do their chores. • Boston tea party-Dressing up as Boycotts to destroy Boston tea. • Tax act- Pay taxes for tea.

  10. Declaration of independence • The videos like liberty kids, the parody of “It’s too late to apologize” , and also gaining background knowledge of what the declaration actually was. Basically it was complaints and commands to the king.

  11. Immigration • Having books of modern immigration and watching the virtual tour of Ellis island and also learning how it felt to immigrants around the world.

  12. Example: immigration • Paying • Having to change their name • Solution to the problem get a job and deal with the name.

  13. Native American story telling • The totem stories, the skits of a story, and recently watching an hour of brother bear from Disney.

  14. Example: Native American totem story • My animal was a fox which meant strength and creativity.

  15. Olympics • A Google presentation that allowed us to make a fake field trip to the 2014 Olympics. We had to tell how long we were staying, costs, visits to attractions, meals, and daily itinerary.

  16. September 11th • Investigating the worst terrorist attack by a hijacked plane and what events took place before and after the attacks. Most importantly the heart-breaking lives that were lost while the twin towers were collapsing.

  17. What I have gained from these units. • I learned a lot this year like how to map routes to a certain place, who were the first people, the explorers of the age of exploration, make a field trip to the Olympics, and etc. It was a great year having Mrs. Ochalek as my teacher she taught us in fun ways and I will miss her next year unless she is also a 8th grade teacher too.
