  2. What is a Character? *Characters-People represented in a story. *Main Character- The person that the events in the story include.

  3. *EXAMPLES OF CHARACTERS- • The main character in The Loraxis Lorax. This book is about him. • Acharacterin One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is Gack. The story is not about him, but he is in the book.

  4. What is a Author? • The Author is the person who writes the story. • What is a Illustrator? • The person who draws the pictures.

  5. EXAMPLES Of AN AUTHOR- • Dr. Seuss- He has written many • books. • He wrote The Lorax, The Foot Book, One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish, and The cat inthe hat!

  6. EXAMPLES OF AN ILLUSTRATOR- *Dr. Seuss is an illustrator because he draws all the pictures for his books. *Most authors do not draw their own pictures.

  7. What is the main idea? • The main idea is the most important part of the story. • Ask yourself- What is the story really about? EXAMPLES OF THE MAIN IDEA? • In The Cat in the Hat the weird cat plays with the kids. • In The Loraxthey recycle things.
