  2. Heidelberg TEC • Located at NMIT Heidelberg Campus • Corner of Bell St. and Waterdale Rd., Heidelberg • Facility will be operational from January 2010 • Facility to be a central hub for youth related programs

  3. Heidelberg TEC Facilities • Modern contemporary building to encourage innovation and creativity. • Materials used reflect the "technical" nature of the curriculum. Ribbed metal and translucent cladding lends the building an industrial look consistent with other buildings on the campus. • Environmental Sustainable Design 1. High water efficient fittings and fixtures; 2. Natural ventilation as a means of comfort cooling 3. Integration of a night purge ventilation; 4. Rain water tanks in ground. 5. Efficient light fixtures.

Heidelberg TEC Facilities • General purpose classrooms • Flexible learning rooms with withdrawal room attached • Computer labs • Student lounges • Large practical work shop • 560sqm and a storage area of 180 sqm, (allowing for forklift access) • Interview / meeting rooms • Conference room • Administration areas

  6. Youth Unit - NMIT • Operational since 2002 • Offers a variety of VCAL, pre vocational and ESL programs • Delivered 290,883 SCH in 2009 • Age range 15 – 19 15 - 26 ESL students • Predominately from Northern Metropolitan region • Will be relocating to the TEC in 2010

  7. YU Programs 2010 VCAL – all certificate levels: • Carpentry • Furniture taster • Ticket to a Trade • Animal Studies • Multimedia • Hospitality • General – including program with Salvation Army • Music • ESL general and Trade focused

  8. YU Programs 2010 Non VCAL Programs: • Cert II in Creative Industries • Re engagement (prior to VCAL) offered at Salvation Army • Certificates I, II and III in ESL • Certificate I in Vocational Preparation

Models Con’t In House VCAL In House Industry Specific All delivery hrs are YU profile hrs YU has trade training partnerships with all relevant departments, ensuring, currency and high quality of skills development OR YU have current specialist staff to deliver both VCAL and ISS streams eg Music • All delivery hrs are YU profile hrs • Industry specific modules are generic and delivered by YU staff • Computer modules • Communication modules • Creative arts • Sport and recreation modules
