W18 Questionnaire content The questionnaire content will include the core questions carried each year, plus rotating content • Individual questionnaire • Neighbourhood (W13) • Expectations of relationships and marriage (W13) • Religion and religiosity (W14) • Leisure activities (W16) • Youth questionnaire • Leisure activities • Expectations of starting a family • Relationships (boy/girlfriend) • Health – attitudes, height/weight BHPS User Group Meeting, 2nd May 2008

W18 Questionnaire content (cont.) • After Wave 18, the BHPS sample will be interviewed as part of Wave 2 of the UKHLS • The BHPS sample will therefore not be asked the Wave 1 UKHLS questionnaire • However, much of this is ‘initial conditions’ information which has already been collected for the BHPS sample • There may be one or two areas of questions which will be included at W18 of the BHPS, otherwise the sample won’t get asked them • For example; country of birth of parents/grand-parents BHPS User Group Meeting, 2nd May 2008

Consents • This may also be the last time that the BHPS sample are contacted face-to-face • After Wave 1, the UKHLS moves to multi-mode data collection • The UKHLS plans to ask respondents for their informed consent to link administrative data to their survey data • For the BHPS sample, the sensible time to ask for these consents is at W18 BHPS User Group Meeting, 2nd May 2008

Consents: Finance and Education • DWP/HMRC records • benefit/tax receipt • National Insurance contributions • Employment and earnings • Savings and pensions • Participation in government schemes • DCSF records • Children’s performance at school • Characteristics of pupils in school BHPS User Group Meeting, 2nd May 2008

  7. Consents: Health • NHS/GRO/ONS • Admissions/attendance at hospital • Visits to GP or other health professionals • Records of specific conditions (cancer, diabetes) • Prescriptions • Notification of death/cause of death • Keeping in touch of movers BHPS User Group Meeting, 2nd May 2008
