Vocational Day for all students Year 10/11 delivered collaboratively Examples of courses: Health and Social Care Travel and Tourism ICT E.Media Sport Construction Skills for working life Young apprentice – engineers Young apprentice – Business Administration Animal Welfare Hair and Beauty Music Technology and DJ Skills Technical Theatre Music Technology

  6. All Diplomas will ensure students get an excellent grounding in English, maths, ICT, and personal learning and thinking skills. In addition, a project will help develop students’ ability for independent work, and every student will have at least 10 days’ work experience.

What is happening when? • 2008 New Key Stage 3 Curriculum • 2008– Diplomas at Level 1 2 3 Engineering, Society Health and Development, CBE, ICT, creative & media • 2009 – LBE, Manufacturing, Hair & Beauty, Bus Admin & Finance. Hosp and Catering • 2010 – Public Services, S & L, Retail, T & T • 2008 - A level change to include extended project , reduced from 6 units of assessment to 4. • 2009 - Functional skills Eng, ICT • 2010 - Functional Skills Maths

  9. Where will functional skills sit? “By incorporating functional skills into a variety of learning and qualifications and making them available as stand alone qualifications, we are ensuring all young people and adults are able to develop these vital skills.”

Functional Skills • Trials (not certificated) from October 2006 • Pilots from September 2007 in ICT and English in GCSE, Diplomas and Standalone (15 awarding bodies) 2 yr pilots. • GCSE English and ICT to include from 2009 and Maths 2010 • If delivering a diploma in 2008 will be part of pilot • Will be stand alone • Pilot assessments – test, task and portfolio • Awarding Bodies exploring a range of new and innovative methods including electronic and on screen
