Potchefstroom City of expertise Stad van deskundigheid Motse wa Baitsanape CCP LESSONS LEARNT • Political and senior administrative support are key • Build internal capacity to understand the issues and solutions and to drive the initiative • Ensure P3 efficiencies • Look for partners that can bring expertise or other partners to the table • Start with modest proposals and ensure that environmental issues become an acceptable political agenda point • Pick the low hanging fruits first • Green House Gas reduction programmes do make financial sense • Green House Gas reductions and energy savings excites politicians and administers alike • The challenge of sustainability is a journey rather than the outcome of a few programmes
