  4. OPZIONI TERAPEUTICHE : LAVAGGIO ECOGUIDATO Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Therapy Relieves Shoulder Pain Caused By Calcifications: Presented at RSNABy Ed SusmanCHICAGO, IL -- November 29, 2007 -- Doctors said that a quick, inexpensive, ultrasound-guided therapy can relieve disabling shoulder pain caused by calcification in the tendons. The procedure used a simple saline lavage treatment to dissolve and rinse away the calcification, successfully removing more than 50% of the calcium from the shoulder lesion in more than 93% of the cases, the researchers said reported here at the 93rd Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). "This is a quick, successful and inexpensive therapy for tendon calcification," said Luca Sconfienza, MD, Radiologist, A.O. Ospedale Santa Corona, Pietra Ligure, Italy, said in a press briefing.
