  2. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, 11 saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea." 12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; 13 and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash. 14 His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. 16 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. Rev. 1:10-17

  4. I was in the Spirit John was in a spiritual frame of mind, the things of the world were of little concern. Phil 3:7-9 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, 2 Cor 4:16-18 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

  5. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, The first day of the week held a special significance to John Mark 16:2, 9 Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen…Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. Luke 24:1-3 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,

  6. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, The first day of the week held a special significance to John Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also. 2 On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.

  7. I heard behind me a loud voice Because of his spiritual mind-set John heard the voice of Deity and was not indifferent to the sound John 10:27-28 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. John 6:44-45 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, 'AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT OF GOD.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.

  8. Then I turned to see the voice Because of his spiritual interest, he made an effort to “see” (learn more of) the person whose voice he heard. Luke 19:1-5 He entered Jericho and was passing through. And there was a man called by the name of Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. Zaccheus was trying to see who Jesus was, and was unable because of the crowd, for he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. Luke 13:24-25 Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

  9. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. When John “saw” (came to fully appreciate and know) the Lord, he fell at his feet in respect and servitude John 20:28-29 Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" 29 Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." Rev 5:8-9 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying,

  10. I was I heard I turned I fell • John • was spiritually-minded • the Lord’s day was of special significance • heard the voice of Deity • turned in concern and interest at what he heard • fell down in awe, obedience, servitude

  11. I was I heard I turned I fell • Isn’t it time that all of us • were more spiritually-minded? • treated the Lord’s day in a special way? • listened more to the voice of Jesus? • turned in concern and interest at what we hear? • fell down in awe, obedience, servitude?
