  2. Employer’s Endorsement • A letter of endorsement has been filed with the IEEE 802 EC recording secretary. • “In accordance with 7.1.2 of the IEEE 802 LAN MAN Standards Committee (LMSC) Policies and Procedures (Approved July 20, 2007), which requires a letter of endorsement for any working group officer position requiring endorsement by the IEEE 802 EC, we provide this letter of endorsement for Dr Adrian P Stephens to serve as Vice Chair of the IEEE 802.11 Working Group. • Adrian is qualified for the position. He has been a member of 802.11 continuously since 1999. He has served in various P802.11n officer/leader positions since 2003, and is currently its Technical Editor. He has contributed significant technical content to both IEEE 802.11 and P802.11n. • Intel recognizes that this position requires time, travel and other resources, which we will support while Adrian is an Intel employee. (This support does not in any way modify the employee relationship between Dr. Stephens and Intel.) • Intel recognizes that as a Working Group Vice Chair, Adrian’s participation is as a professional and individual expert as specified in 7.1.3.1 of the LMSC P&P.” Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

  4. Vision for the future • I propose a focus on defining clear goals and effective processes • Goals: • Address market needs – driven by marking input • Limit the scope of what we authorize so it directly addresses these needs • Processes: • Current selection processes promote conflict and “kitchen sink” compromise. Instead we should be willing to try alternative such as promoting early mergers or “let the market decide”. • We are rules-heavy. We should only keep rules that work for us. • We should meet an expected response time for any management process (e.g. a guaranteed 2 days for releasing a ballot or 1 day for putting a draft on the server) • “Matrix” job sharing – each person performs more than one role, and each role can be performed by more than one person. Document and checklist common functions. • More administration can be automated – reducing error and delay Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

  5. Don’t take my word for it • Speak to those who have worked with me within 802.11 Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

  6. And finally • Don’t forget to vote for me! • Thankyou Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation
