  2. Activities in the last week • CE design tender open and analyzed. First 2 firms are now contacted for some final clarification. Very good cost figure, which open the possibility that the final CE will be lower then initial budgeted. • We will need to give to the firm selected in early December the final specs for the EHN1 extension, in February the final specs for the target and primary line. • I will today for the first time present a possible budget request for 2014, 2015 and 2016 which covers detector R&D support and the construction of the EHN1 extension. This will trigger many reactions at CERN and will promote further discussions. • I have presented to the CERN cryo group our needs and work packages, internal discussions are ongoing. Once this is cleared we will start detailed discussions and planning with each of you

  3. Activities in the last week • PH department new Leader agrees with the concept of giving us b185. I am now having detailed discussions on how to make the hall available. Next week we plan first discussion with ICARUS on logistics and necessary modifications. • EN has given us a person (CERN staff) to help in all logistics and preparation work at CERN in line with bringing detectors installed on test beams or in preparatory areas. It will be official soon. We are iterating the mandate • We are trying to set up a LAr R&D brainstorming meeting with the US people. But for the moment we do not have the ICARUS support. I this fails we do not know how to continue in the justification of the today’s EHN1 extension and lobbying for a neutrino beam. An effective US support is after our opinion very important in the process • The 25 and 26th November we will have a meeting in preparation for the ICFA town meeting of January in Paris. This meeting will be called by CERN research director and participation is on invitation. Main goal : define and agree on a CERN overall strategy to be presented in Paris. Invitations will go out soon.
