  1. What does a Bohr model of the atom look like? e- e- e- e- e- e- e- e- p+ n e- e- e- e- e- e- e- e- e-

  2. The nucleus contains the p+ and n… while the electrons “orbit” the nucleus. The e- on the outside ringare called VALENCE Electrons. e- e- e- e- e- e- e- e- p+ n e- e- e- e- e- e- e- e- e-

  3. Drawing Bohr Models STEP 1: Do a particle inventory. (EX (Li): 3p+, 4n, 3e-) STEP 2: Draw a small circle for the nucleus and place the number of p+ and n in that circle. Ex: 3p+ 4n

  4. Drawing Bohr Models STEP 3: To determine the maximum # of electrons that a ring can hold look at the number of elements in that same numbered ROW on the periodic table. STEP 4: Look at your # of electrons (here it’s 3e-). Place the e- on the rings from the inside out (DO NOT over fill a ring, and do not move on to the next ring until the one before it is full!!!)
